Business is Business

Two multinational corporations that have earned millions of dollars in U.S. government contracts are conducting business with Iran in violation of the recently signed sanctions law, according to an Iran watchdog group that has provided its research to FoxNews.com. 

United Against Nuclear Iran, a non-profit devoted to monitoring the rogue nation, claims that the Danish shipping giant Maersk and Komatsu, a Japanese firm that specializes in construction equipment manufacturing, are flouting U.S. law by continuing to do business in Iran. 

The group sent a letter this week detailing its allegations to the CEOs of both companies, as well as Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The Pentagon was notified because the bulk of the firms' government contracts were with the Defense Department. 

Komatsu denied the charges; Maersk said the company was reviewing the new sanctions law.

If I'm not mistaken Maersk traded with North Vietnam during the Viet Nm War.  Seems lots of people seek to benefit from both sides.  Why do we put up with it?

An article on Fox News Online describes how the company makes lots of claims as to safety.  Special crash resistant foam and light metal help to keep the driver safe.  The image to the left, from BING, is not the car in question, I assume that pic is of  an older model, but about the same size.  The new one looks really neat.  Still in all, I do wonder what Bubba, driving an 18 wheel WalMart truck might do to one if he happened to thump into it on the Interstate.


The  car is safer, the article says, than motorcycles.  I'll buy that.  Motorcycles have the glide characteristics of footlockers.

"We need money, let's cut the cops, firemen and garbage collection."  Reasoning:  Everybody needs cops, firemen and garbage guys - who gives a rat's ass about, or has ever heard of, some useless overpaid City Hall womps?  Have you ever heard, "If you don't let us raise taxes we'll  cut down the Civil Rights Division, the Traffic Research Unit and the Toys for Illegals Branch?"


The more liberal the government, the quicker they are to stick it to the police.  They are also the first ones to cry and rip their hair when someone from the Toys for Illegals Branch uses an AK-47 to cut down a few of the lads working in the Civil Rights Division.  "It's the fault if the police!!  Oops, wait a minute - we don't got no police.  Oh shit!"

School Officials in Mass. Town Won't Let Students Recite Pledge of Allegiance

When Sean Harrington entered his freshman year at Arlington High School, he noticed something peculiar: There were no American flags in the classrooms, and no one recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 

So Harrington enlisted the aid of his fellow students, and now, three years later, they have succeeded in getting flags installed in the classrooms. But the pledge still will not be recited.

The Arlington, Mass., school committee has rejected the 17-year-old's request to allow students to voluntarily recite the Pledge of Allegiance, because some educators are concerned that it would be hard to find teachers willing to recite it, according to a report in the Arlington Patch.

Harrington had presented school officials with a petition signed by 700 people, along with letters of support from lawmakers including Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn. 

But the request to have the pledge recited failed when the committee's vote ended in a 3-3 tie.

I can think of NO reason this school, or for that matter the state, still receive Federal funds.  I would guess there are not enough people in the Federal government with balls.

Republican lawmakers are expressing shock over a Labor Department ad campaign that offers government assistance to illegal immigrants who think they're getting shortchanged for their work -- and at least one of them is planning to write to Labor Secretary Hilda Solis for an explanation.

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz says he wants to know why taxpayers are being asked to spend moneyto ensure that illegals get assistance for fair wages while millions of unemployed Americans struggle to find jobs.

Say  what!  Employers hire illegal aliens so they can pay low wages.  If a few illegals take their case to court, courtesy of the U.S. Government, low wages will be a thing of the past.  Then, the employers will not only face jail for hiring these beauties, but will have to pay full wages and benefits.

Either a clever ploy or idiocy run amuck.
